Planned gifts represent your life’s work and reflect your values. A planned gift communicates your legacy; it tells a story of what you hold most important in your life and community. Planned giving makes it possible for you to make a generous contribution while preserving or even enhancing your lifestyle.
The Legacy Society recognizes those who have chosen to support the Museums of Western Colorado through their wills, estate plans, life income arrangements, and major planned gifts. Contributions received as a result of charitable planning help build for the future by supporting the programs and activities of the Museum in perpetuity.
BEQUESTS: Remembering the Museum in your will with a bequest is the most common way to plan a future gift. You may arrange for the Museum to receive:
- A specific dollar amount
- Specific assets like securities, real estate, or personal property
- A portion of what remains after providing for other beneficiaries (known as a residuary bequest)
Careful financial estate planning can be beneficial to you and your family and can allow you to leave a permanent legacy that will support the future of the Museum. We do recommend that you seek the advice of a tax consultant or financial advisor when considering these, or any other, planned giving options.
Your support of the Museums of Western Colorado can come in any of an array of flexible and creative ways that will provide critical funding for your museum. Some of these giving opportunities will provide immediate funds; others will result in long-term funding. Either way, we will make sure your support is also meaningful and beneficial to you.
Thank you in advance for considering an estate gift as part of your legacy. For more information on the Legacy Society or if you have already remembered MWC in your estate plan, please contact Catherine Robertson, MWC Board of Directors, at catherinehikes@icloud.com.
You can direct also your gift through the Annual Fund, join one of our recognition societies, or sponsor an exhibit or program or publication directly. You can arrange support through your private, public, or family foundation. You can name an honorary gift or a memorial gift. And, we gladly accept in-kind services and matching gifts.
