The Museums of Western Colorado (MWC) is proud to introduce our new Education and Volunteer Coordinator—Stephanie Lukowski
It was a difficult choice with several very qualified candidates. We even had applications coming from as far away as Argentina and Cyprus. Stephanie rose to the top and her skills and experience as an educator will be a very valuable asset for our museum.
Stephanie is a paleontologist and museum educator who comes to us from the Ice Age Discovery Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado, where she was the program director. She is passionate about education, having begun her career as an education volunteer for the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. She has designed educational programs for both the Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, South Dakota, and the Ice Age Discovery Center. Stephanie has also worked extensively as a field paleontologist with sites ranging throughout the western United States and Panama.
She earned a B.S. in geology from Tulane University and a M.S. in vertebrate paleontology from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Stephanie is currently working towards a Master of Education in natural science education from Colorado State University. Outside of the museum, she enjoys hiking, downhill skiing, yoga, knitting, and learning new things.
The MWC is pleased to welcome Stephanie to our museum family. Her first day will be September 10.
