The Paleontology Field Crew at Dinosaur Journey (part of the Museum of Western Colorado) is in need of a gently-used, but tough field truck.
Believe it or not, we’ve been digging up dinosaurs and other fossils for more than 30 years, but we’ve never had a truck powerful enough to move our work trailer in and out of dig sites, or to haul large fossils back to the Museum. Up until now we have been using volunteer vehicles to do the work of moving heavy dinosaur bones and equipment along uneven terrain. And, while we are forever grateful to our volunteers and their willingness to sacrifice their personal transmissions for the Museum, it is time to do our own heavy lifting and moving at the dinosaur quarries.
Kids as young as five years old participate in our dinosaur expeditions, learning paleontology as citizen scientists in real, actively researched, dinosaur quarries. All fossils excavated by our crew adhere to Bureau of Land Management permits and are added to Museum collections for research, education, and exhibition.
Help us continue our mission of discovery, quality science and science education. This truck will help us keep our program operational and give more children and families the opportunity to be a paleontologist for a day and discover the wonder of science through the Museums of Western Colorado, Dinosaur Journey’s Dinosaur Dig program.
We are looking to acquire a used 3/4 ton 4×4 truck with crew cab for the 2018 field season. Get involved in our mission of discovery, quality science and science education by contributing to this Razoo Fund.
Your contribution will go a long way to ensure that our research and paleontologist-for-a-day programming are fresh and functional. THANK YOU for helping kids and families to discover the wonder of science through the Museums of Western Colorado/Dinosaur Journey Dinosaur Dig program!
