Alferd Packer Murder Mystery Tour

Join David Bailey, the Museum of the West’s Curator of History and award-winning author, on a tour of the infamous Alferd Packer murder scene. Packer, known as the Colorado Cannibal, who was accused of killing and eating his traveling companions in 1874. Bailey will take the group to Lake City, Colorado and visit the Packer murder site and the location of Packer’s camp. He will explain his ten year historical quest for the truth and the new forensic evidence discovered by Colorado Mesa University scientists that cleared Packer of murder and solved Colorado’s most famous murder case. The group will enjoy hors d’oeuvres at beautiful Lake San Cristobal. Participants will then tour the Hinsdale County Historical Society Museum and view Alferd Packer memorabilia with county historian Grant Houston. Participants will stay at the North Face Lodge in Lake City and experience the renowned culinary delights of Climb Elevated Eatery restaurant in Lake City. Before our return, will have breakfast at the Lake City Bakery and tour the historic Lake City cemetery, where many of the deceased met an untimely end.
