Join CCA’s Land Programs Director and paleontologist, Rob Gay, to discover the rich history of paleontology in Utah’s Bears Ears National Monument!

Did you know that the fossil discoveries in Bears Ears National Monument were a key factor in the initial designation of the protected area? The Monument holds an abundance of fossils, but historically, Bears Ears paleontology has been largely understudied. Paleontologist, Rob Gay, will uncover the lesser-known history of the fossils within the monument to provide a more comprehensive picture of the rich resources of the area. He will also draw parallels between the legal protections of our local NCAs and how land managers can use paleontology as a tool within National Conservation Lands.
