October 16, 2024 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Join us via Zoom or at Dinosaur Journey on October 16th at 12:00 PM (MT) for a special National Fossil Day presentation by Dr. Thomas L. Adams, Chief Curator and Vice President of Research at the Witte Museum. Dr. Adams will dive into the fascinating “Mysteries of Texas Tyrannosaurs from the Late Cretaceous of Big Bend National Park.”
This free, 45-minute talk will explore the unique ecosystems of Cretaceous Texas and what new discoveries about tyrannosaurs in Big Bend reveal about the Mesozoic world. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session where attendees can engage directly with Dr. Adams.
Dr. Adams’s research is focused on Cretaceous ecosystems and faunal diversity within Texas and its implications on Early to Late Cretaceous transitions. As well as research on crocodyliform evolution and biodiversity, dinosaur paleoichnology, and paleobiogeography of Mesozoic ecosystems. He has conducted paleontological research in Alaska, Texas, Wyoming, and Mongolia and have been involved with additional expeditions in Colorado, Utah, and Southern China.
Dr. Adams received B.S. degrees in geology and in zoology/physiology from the University of Wyoming and earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in geology from the Roy M. Huffington Department of Earth Sciences at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
