International Archaeology Day Virtual Talk with Zebulon Miracle
October 17, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
A Historiography of Rock Art
One of the most common questions when viewing rock art is, “What does it mean?” Rock art can serve a number of functions from calendars, ceremony, storytelling, and expression. This talk will not attempt to explain the meaning of images. Rather, we will look at interpretation efforts over the centuries and examine how researchers have approached studying rock art over time.
