Oral History Program – March

March 15 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Laurena Davis, historian for the U.S. Department of Energy contractor, Navarro Research & Engineering, will talk about the contributions of women in the sciences, offices, and homes of Western Colorado, just ahead of Women of the Manhattan Project Week, March 19-23.

The presentation will be about how the U.S. Government’s aim to develop atomic weapons ahead of Nazi Germany during World War II employed a workforce from coast to coast, including hundreds of people covertly working in Western Colorado. Women played important roles in what became known as the Manhattan Project.
