Welcome to the Heritage Festival at Cross Orchards Historic Site!
Step back in time at our annual Heritage Festival, hosted at the historic Cross Orchards apple orchard in beautiful Grand Junction. Operated by the Museums of Western Colorado, this festival is a celebration of local history, heritage crafts, and agricultural traditions.
Event Highlights:
- Cider Demonstrations: Watch traditional cider pressing demonstrations at the top of every hour, and don’t miss your chance to purchase fresh cider from Talbott’s Farm.
- Blacksmithing: Experience the clang and craft of blacksmithing, with demonstrations happening all day in the Blacksmith Shop.
- Fruit Packing: Palisade High School students will lead fruit packing demonstrations in the barn throughout the day, offering a glimpse into the techniques of the past.
- Hand Tool Woodworking: Visit the Woodshop for ongoing demonstrations of traditional woodworking with hand tools.
- Old-Time Laundry: On the half-hour, learn how laundry was done the old-fashioned way on the south side of the Bunkhouse.
- Model T Rides: Take a ride in a classic Model T Ford, available all day.
- Vaulting Harmonies Performances: Experience the incredible skill and artistry of this talented group that performs gymnastics on horseback.

- Walk or Bike Discount: $5 at the door for those who choose to walk or bike to the festival.
- Museum Members Discount: $5 at the door
We encourage you to buy tickets online to reserve your arrival time slot, helping us manage traffic flow. You’re welcome to stay as long as you’d like, and your time slot simply marks your arrival window.
