Carly Jones recently joined the Museums of Western Colorado staff team as Education and Volunteer Coordinator. Jones, who served as an intern with the Museum in Summer 2016, will continue the Museum’s work with District 51 and other school districts in the region to synchronize academic curriculum with the experiential opportunities provided at all three Museum sites. She also will coordinate the dozens of volunteers involved in a variety of capacities at the three facilities and the Museum’s paleontological excavation sites.
Jones says, “I come in with a lot of goals, and the desire to improve the educational offerings of the Museum. I’d particularly like to update our educational programming, marketing and making it available for everyone in the community. I also want to continue building good relationships with the schools, and develop our volunteer program such that it is of benefit to those involved as well as the community at large.”
Jones is a Montrose native with a bachelor’s degree in History from University of Wyoming and a Masters of Museum Studies from University of Glasgow. She taught at Centennial Middle School in Montrose this past year, and enjoys reading, traveling and various crafts such as doll making.
